IMPORTANT INFORMATION RE:
PRACTICE CLOSURE (please note you do not need to register elsewhere, please stay with us and we will transfer across together- thank you)
PLEASE READ THE FOLLOWING DOCUMENTS:
All patients have been sent a letter, but some patients are saying they cant open the closure letter here on the website, so the text is copied below:
We are writing to let you know that we, the GP partners at Number 18 Surgery, have taken the difficult decision to close the practice this coming October because of recruitment issues and financial pressures.
Across the country, GP services are under pressure because of rising demand for services and difficulties recruiting GPs. Number 18 has seen a decline in patient list size and a fall in NHS income, but a significant increase in demand on its services, which unfortunately means that the business is no longer financially viable.
We are currently in talks with Oldfield and St James’s surgeries, which are soon to merge to become the ‘Heart of Bath’. Our hope is that Number 18 patients and staff will transfer to the newly formed Heart of Bath partnership this autumn. This will ensure that you continue to receive convenient, high-quality services, provided by current Number 18 staff. This plan has received support from Wessex Local Medical Committee, Bath and North East Somerset Clinical Commissioning Group and NHS England.
There is no requirement for you to register elsewhere, as Number 18 surgery will be providing a full service up until the end of September when the building will close, and the patient list and staff will be transferred to the Heart of Bath. You will be able to choose whether you want to be seen at the Oldfield Surgery site, or at St James’s Surgery, depending on which is more convenient for you.
The team at Number 18 are fully committed to overseeing a smooth transition of care throughout the transfer phase, in order to maintain an undisrupted and high-quality service to all of our patients.
While we know the news of this closure is disappointing, we are excited about the opportunity to work with the Heart of Bath partnership. It means our current practice team will still be able to see patients in a location very close to Number 18, and also that our patients will benefit from greater access to GPs, nurses and other primary care services.
We will be holding two ‘drop-in’ days for Number 18 patients to come and ask us questions and give your feedback about these plans. The first day is Wednesday 14 February, with sessions at 3–5pm, and 6–7pm. The second day is Wednesday 28 February, with sessions at 3–4pm, and 6–7pm. These will all take place at Number 18 practice. There is no formal agenda for these sessions, so please drop in at a time that is convenient to you. Please bear in mind that we have limited space at the practice, so we will accommodate people on a first come, first served basis.
If you are unable to attend either of these drop-in days, but would like to give your feedback on the plans, please email BSCCG.email@example.com or you can write to our physical address, or give a letter to the practice reception staff. We would ask that you don’t call the practice about the closure unless your query is urgent, as we are still very busy seeing patients and ensuring people continue to receive the same high-quality care and treatment.
Finally, we would like to thank you for your support over the years and your continued support during this upcoming time of change.
